Most of the time, limitations that organisations face with existing software can
be overcome by customising one or more applications that the organisation already
has.
As discussed above writing complete new programs from scratch usually can (and should)
be avoided.
Sometimes all that is required is a few simple scripts, other times small utility
programs are required to 'tie existing applications together' or a small program
may be needed to run in parallel with existing applications to supply a 'missing
functionality'.
